The weather gods were kind to us and no races were cancelled, despite a forecast of 25kph winds and rain from midday.
St George Rowing Club won 20 races and placed in another 14 races (out of 63 – this excludes the mixed races). Congratulations to Airton Snr and Krys – 6 races for 6 wins, also Mr Irons and Andrea both with 5 wins.
Some outstanding individual results that need special mention:
- WE 4X, great first up win for Sue, Linda, Toni & Bev
- Sergey & Stiffy, a good 2nd in MA-B 2X
- Courageous effort from John, Graeme T, Ian & Harry for 2nd in MF-K 4X, they gave Canberra composite 22 sec start and nearly caught them
- Women’s D-E 8+, a good second to the Leichhardt state masters
- Wendy and Andrea for their composite wins in WA-B 2X
- Linda, Sue, Krys & Jo – great win in WD 4X beating a hot Leichhardt crew
- Judy & Deb for their win in WE 2X, just ahead of Maria & Toni (who led most of the race)
- Harry for racing under duress
- Fantastic win in MA-C 4- for Ironsie, Airton, Hobbit & Sergey
- Jo & Linda, good win in WD 2X
