Thanks to all those who competed at the Drummoyne grade regatta mid-March. It was another great day of racing. Unfortunately poor weather stopped the regatta at lunch time, we had competitors in 19 of the remaining 24 races. Although Leichhardt were in 33 of the 39 races before lunch, St.George still performed admirably and earned points in 18 of the 23 races we competed. Overall Leichhardt earned 62 points and St.George 45 points. Sydney had only a small contingent racing and they earned 1 point.
This means, standings prior to Trickett 2015 are St.George have 1062.5 pts, Sydney 989.5 pts and Leichhardt 969.75 pts.
Some noteworthy highlights from Drummoyne are:
- Great 2nd in Men’s C grade eight, beaten by 0.28sec by Glebe. Note, Drummoyne 3rd had 5 former state masters in their crew
- Abbey, Ellyn, Lisa, Sue, Laura, Elisa, Jo and Toni for points in Women’s C grade quads
- Stephen Knott, a great 3rd and second points since you were beaten by two Glebe scullers in Men’s D grade single
- Krys and Andrea, for their win in WA/B 2-
- Abbey and Ellyn , for their win in WC 2X
- Fantastic win for Amy, Becky, Wendy, Elisa and Lilly winning WC4+, they beat a very strong Leichhardt four, all state rowers!!
- A close 2nd in Men’s D eight, well done Sergey, Glenn, Junior, Paul Wilko, Lewis, Pete Moore, Airton, Ironsie and Lilly
- Kate Burke for another great win in Women’s D grade single, and Kate started on the unfavourable side of the course!!
- Another win for Lilly in Men’s C grade 4+ with Alan, Ironsie, Hobbit and Sergey
- Good places for Andrea, Toni and Krys in Women’s C grade singles
