The weekend at AMRC, and the great results continue for St George!
SATURDAY: Congrats to supermasters crew of Ian, Graham, John and Harry, getting SILVER in the MH4x!
Lots of great racing through Saturday, with many making it through tough heats to progress to the finals.
At the end of the day, after dark, the interstate championship races….. Incredibly exciting races to watch and a fantastic crowd staying out to cheer them on. Selected in the NSW Women’s 4x were St George’s Krys and Amanda, along with Angela from Leichhardt and Tamsin from North Shore.
At the half-way point, our NSW girls were in 4th and, though not much separated the field, the QLD, ACT and VIC crews were looking strong. NSW picked up the rating and the power in the final 500m and drove home through the field, not quite catching the Victorians but winning an amazing SILVER!!
Well done Tamsin, Amanda, Krys, Angela, and supercoach Bruce!!!
SUNDAY: Captain Harrison, Alan, Rob and Airton joined Glebe’s Kenny, Brad and Will (cox) and Mosman’s Marc and James to get BRONZE early on in the MD8+.
After a well-earned rest, Krys added to her bulging trophy cabinet, teaming up with Andrea to win BRONZE in the WC2-!
(And going viral on Twitter in the process….!)
What seemed like just a few races later, Krys and Andrea, along with state crewmates Amanda and Tamsin (from North Shore) picked up BRONZE in the WC4x!!
Not to be completely upstaged by the masters women, our men finished up the weekend with SILVER in the MixD8+. Well done to Alan, Steve, Airton and Stephen, along with Caroline and Sandy (both from Leichhardt) and Nicki and Renai (both from North Shore).
(To repeat a certain coach’s comment from the weekend though, “you blokes can only place when the girls drag you down the course!”)
A great championship overall for St George Rowing Club, finishing 9th on the final medal count. Out of over 100 clubs, that’s pretty bloody awesome!
A massive thank you to Stephen and Bruce for getting the trailer and boats there this weekend (and all the other running around over the season!) - good to see you’re still smiling!
Congrats to all on a fantastic weekend. Now go enjoy some off-season!
